If your doctor ever refers you to this guy, avoid him at all costs. He's genuinely not meant to be a psychiatrist. The way he talked to me was so belittling of me, my experiences, and what I had to say, it felt like I paid to be made fun of. I was told upfront that he didn't believe I had what I got tested for, and that I was refusing to accept help despite literally being in a psychiatrist office ... to get help and medication. I was denied medication because it was dangerous to be provided addicting medication yet was suggested to look into depressive and anxiety medication. Ironic.

This doctor disrespected me and raised an attitude with me in the middle of a session for my father. He was asking my father questions and asked me to respond in my own opinions and then proceeded to undermine me when I responded. He berated me in front of my own father. It is ironic that this man has dedicated his practice to helping people with mental illness, because he made me want to kill myself (literally). I wasn’t even his patient, my dad wanted me to join him in his appointments to help him understand his illness. Dr Pham’s bedside manner is non-existent and just as others have said- he is unprofessional and lacks empathy. It’s been months since this incident and it’s traumatized me.

UPDATING!!! - 4 years later This kidney transplant service has been shut down to fraudulent denials!!! I knew there was something crooked about them. They deserve whatever is coming their way. This psychologist was part of process and had a lot to do with it. Unfortunately because he is part of a separate entity, he will remain in services but I advise against using if you are in need of psychology (end of update)
What should have been a 1 and done appointment for a kidney transplant clearance by psychology turned into a nightmare! He stayed way off topic and came up with his own scenarios. Lied. Was always late. Rude and unprofessional and his clinic clearly are just as rude! I was called annoying in an email by Dr. Pham and I plan on reporting him to the medical board. If you’re interested in the full story I screenshot my full story because it was too long and included his email to me and mine to him. Please read reviews and reconsider if you’re considering Dr Tony Pham.

As a medical student, I strongly urge you to take my advice and AVOID this physician.

I am always hesitant to read/trust reviews on physicians. I understand that you can't make everyone happy and most doctors try their best given the circumstances. Therefore, for me to write a review AND leave one star, it takes a lot. Dr. Pham treated one of my family members for bipolar disorder for 12 years. Choosing Dr. Pham has been one of the biggest mistakes that my family has ever made. He prescribed Carbamazepine to treat their manic episodes. Carbamazapenine is an old, routine drug used for both mania and epilepsy. However, it can be tricky for long term use as it metabolizes itself and so dose adjustment is required as time goes on. This is a fact I learned recently in my basic pharmacology course. Dr. Pham failed to adjust their dose for the entire 12 years that they were treated for despite yearly, intense manic episodes. One time, I specifically recall begging Dr. Pham to intervene as our family member was having a severe manic episode and became a danger to not only himself, but to others. To this Dr. Pham responded that my mother should just "bake him a nice dinner" and "ask him kindly to come home". This is both a display of gross incompetence and negligence. Their life today is arguably ruined as Tony failed to provide them with proper care. He can never repair the damage that he has done my family.

The one thing I would like to thank Tony Pham for is my inspiration for going into the field of medicine: so that I, unlike him, can treat my patients and their families with dignity, respect and COMPETENT medical care.

This is my second time having to call to see if I could change my prescription and not getting any response after I was told I would get a call back. Since this last time I have been a cash patient, paying $100 per visit, so I should be treated just like any other patient with insurance. I've been having a lot of trouble with Zoloft recently, it makes me extremely fatigued. I am in school and I have little to no energy to study, so I wanted to change to a different antidepressant. Since Zoloft was causing fatigue, Dr. Pham prescribed me Effexor XR 75 mg and it wasn't helping my depression. I called and e-mailed Dr. Pham to see if he could raise my dose and despite speaking to his office assistants on many different occasions, neither the office assistants nor Dr.Pham ever responded to my e-mails, nor did anyone ever call me back. He never sent a new prescription to my pharmacy, even though I was very specific about needing a higher dose due to my depression not subsiding in my messages. So I ended up going back to Zoloft until my next visit, which was about a week ago. On my last visit I was prescribed Prozac 40 mg and I am still feeling very down and depressed. I've called twice today and I left a message on his voicemail. I have yet to hear back from his office. I am so tired of calling up there trying to get people to care. There is absolutely no excuse for this lack of empathy.

What a joke of a doctor! I don't think he can empathise or relate with people because he seems to have no real world experience outside of his tiny little Tony bubble & comfort zone. There is no clinical process, his worldly perspective is antiquated, thus making his line of questioning borderline offensive and not even related to the reasons you may be there. In the end, his diagnosis, or lack thereof, will not be based in logic or reason, therefore I would not trust this man's opinion or perspective with influencing your thoughts or health.

Has no respect for your time or schedule. Was late 45 mins the first time, 22 mins the second time (don't worry, he will charge you for the full hour even if he only sees you for 25 mins). His staff smirks while you express your concern about him being so disrespectful of patients.
